Players
Starting out as The Insurance Orchestra, the London Phoenix Orchestra was founded in 1924 by Harold Rawlinson to provide members of the insurance industry with an opportunity to meet regularly and enjoy playing music together. This fundamental enthusiasm for music and a friendly ethos remain at the heart of the orchestra's purpose to this day. Today players are drawn from all backgrounds, not just the insurance industry, and include music students.
The London Phoenix Orchestra is an open orchestra, always striving to improve its standards and interested in seeking new and additional players. Not all sections seek new players at all times of course, but please contact us if you would like to join and we will arrange a trial period with the orchestra for you. Enquiries are welcome from new players who are of at least Grade 8 standard and have some orchestral experience.
We are currently particularly keen to hear from string players especially viola players and double bass players.
We are also looking for a bassoon player, willing to play both Principal and Second on an alternating basis, and a 2nd trombone.
There may be opportunities for woodwind and brass players to join us for one concert during the season. If you're interested please get in touch.
If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please contact Lev Parikian.
